Rewarding Winners: zim Awards Ball

The Zim-Awards Ball 2010 is on tonight and the organisers are fired up. This is year’s event is going to be bigger and better, according to one of the organisers.

Rise Up Investments Limited created the Zim Awards ceremony is in now in its third year running. Zim Awards was ceated to honour “individuals and businesses owned or run by or for Zimbabweans that have achieved excellence in different fields.” From Business and Innovation to Music and Sport to Media, Events and Humanitarian awards, this is yet another prominent event giving recognition to outstanding African Diasporans.

This year’s event will be staged at the the Holiday Inn and performances will High Wycombe and top U.K. Zimbabwean act BKay ‘N Kazz will be performing live onstage. BKay ‘N Kazz, who are also nominated in one of the major music categories will be joined by other Zimbabwean artists such as vocalist Cynthia Mare, rapper Juss Russ Baby and dancehall act Jusa Dementor. All the contestants were voted for by the public on the awards show’s website. Prominent Zimbabwean presenter Tim of Tim2Soxx will be hosting the event.

We spoke to Zim-Awards representative, Onismus and he gave us a picture of what he is expecting tonight. He told us that “the event was drawing massive crowds to such an extent that they have remained extremely busy over the last few weeks, in trying to make sure that the event lives up to the patrons’ expectations.”

We also learnt that the event which is primarily by Zimbabweans and for Zimbabweans is also inclusive to the local community. One of their sponsors, Chiltern Housing is a leader in providing housing solutions in the south east of England.
