Gamu is On The Road!

Going Strong: Gamu

Going Strong: Gamu

Regardless of the negativity that came after her appearance on the UK’s X-Factor show last year, Gamu Nhengu has proven to be a strong and resilient individual. She is living up to what she promised her fans when she appeared at the MOBO awards ceremony in October 2010. She promised to continue writing, come up with good music and make appearances.

2011 has come and here she is, already performing at capacity crowd venues. Gamu’s 2011 tour kick started on the 3rd of February at Bar One in Sheffield and crowds thronged the venue. The “Walking On Sunshine” star did not disappoint as she performed her own renditions of songs such as Katy Perry’s I “Kissed A Girl”. Cameras were out and fans jostled each other so they could snap their favourite star on her first ever live appearance since an unfair dismissal by Cheryl Cole on X-Factor last year. Gamu engaged with the crowd like a real professional would, as she mesmerised them with her soulful voice.

This however, could not have happened without the support of several individuals, groups and virtual groups such as “STILL SUPPORTING GAMU 100%” on facebook. This group was formed when Gamu was kicked out of the X-Factor and members of this group have been following each and every little step Gamu has taken, since leaving the show. Some members of this group have spearheaded and helped spearhead campaigns for their favourite artists including the “Gamu For Christmas Number One” campaign. One such member is Kelly Appleyard, who was present at Bar One showing her full support to Gamu.

Gamus is also rumored to have been signed to 50 Cent’s alternative record label, G-Note records but a statement is yet to be issued by representatives of the label. Gamu has since lined up dates for a UK wide tour and if you live in the UK, look for her at a location near you. If you do not live in UK, you should look out for Gamu anyway because she is here to stay and to produce bigger things. She is working, in the studio, photo-shoots, everything and when it is all done, you are all going to witness a massive explosion. We know that, that is why we said Gamu is one of the African Born Artists To Look Out For in 2011.
