Ghanaians in UK Celebrate 54th Independence Day

Ready TO Party: Ghanaian Girls

Ready TO Party: Ghanaian Girls

The 54th Ghanaian Independence day has come and gone, but London celebrated it in style. It was at a star studded event at the Indigo O2 on Saturday 5 March. The venue was full to capacity and the crowd was willing to party. A lot of patrons came out proudly with their national flags and some were dressed in traditionally styled outfits.

On the stage, DJs played some banging hits, before the stars came out. Acts such as Eddie Kadi, 5five, Iwan and the ace “Black Star” himself, Asamoah Gyan, together with his musical collaborator, Castro. Asamoah and Castro gave a stellar performance of their classic track “African Girls” as dancers showed some great moves in the background. Iwan also gave a notable performance (see backstage pictures and performance video below), and he was joined on-stage by Nigeria/UK rapper, Mo Eazy, proving that it was not only a Ghanaian affair. Mo Eazy equally cause a buzz when he stepped out.

Gyan’s fellow Sunderland and “Black Stars” teammate, Sully Muntari was among the many luminaries in attendance. It was certainly a night to remember and photographer, Felix Adjei Barber was in there to capture the outstanding moments.
