Time for fun: Zimfest

The venue for today’s Zimbabwean-UK summer fun is at Prince George’s Playing field, Raynes Park, Wimbledon in the big city. Zimfest is an annual festival for Zimbabweans living in the UK and other patrons from all walks of life. The event, which will be headlined by British indie rock artist Tinashe, is expected to be attended by a strong 3000 crowd.

According to organisers, Zimfest patrons are assured of a fun-packed festival that has a whole range of activities for every family member. That includes music and dance, beer and food stalls, barbecue, a goods market place, sports, a kids’ section full of games and other activities for the entire family.

Joining Tinashe on stage is the dynamic duo of UK based brothers BKay N’ Kazz, who are popular outfit among Zimbabweans and many UK residents. Former model and songstress, Karen “Zuwa” Stally will also be performing. On the dance arena, DJ Simba will be responsible for the thrilling the crowds and will also be battling it out with other DJs, such as DJ Matt James.

Zimfest aims to bring Zimbabweans living in the UK together to socialise and network among themselves and with people from all walks of life. The festival also aims to promote Zimbabwean culture and products.

This year, the organisers of Zimfest have also thought to bring to patrons’ attention, the famine issue in the horn of Africa, and to raise funds towards aid. A target of £1000 has been set and a campaign video featuring BKay N’ Kazz has been released, as seen below.
