D'Banj Wins UK MOBO

Negerian superstar D’Banj has scored yet another major career goal. He recently won the coveted Music Of Black Origin, Best African Act award. The artist, seems to be riding on a wave, after signing to US rapper, Kanye West’s G.O.O.D. Music record label early this year, and subsequently making it to several mainstream radio stations’ playlists with hit song “Oliver Twist”.

The category in which D’Banj was nominated also featured some high flyers which include fellow Nigerian act, P-Square, Malian duo Amadou and Mariam. Other contenders were Sarkodie, Cabo Snoop,Fally Ipupa, Camp Mulla, The Very Best, Fatoumata Diawara and Spoek Mathambo.

Other categories featured world class artists such as the UK’s Emeli Sande, who managed to walk away with 3 awards. Other featured big names were Plan B, Nicki Minaj, JLS and Sean Paul who all managed to make the winners’ list.

The event was held at Liverpool’s Echo Arena, in the UK on 3 November 2012.
