Gamu Is Back On The Scene With New Album

GamuGamu Nhengu may be remembered by many as the wrong reject of the UK X-Factor show of 2010 (at the boot camp stages). The Zimbabwe-born singer who made big news in 2010-201 is back with a new single for her upcoming album “A Love like This”.

Gamu’s debut single is called “Shake the Room” and has the happy sound and strong vocals that can be associated with Gamu’s sensational X-Factor audition which featured Gamu’s rendition of “Walking on Sunshine”. The audition stole millions of UK TV watchers’ hearts and many wanted to see her through to the finals. However, Gamu was subsequently rejected before the live shows, much to the disappointment of many.

Now it’s clear that Gamu has certainly overcome the X-Factor rejection and the Immigration scandal that followed. She now seems to have embarked on her inevitable journey of walking on sunshine. The Shake the Room video shows a Gamu who is energetic, driven and giving the impression that her upcoming album will be even more powerful.

Gamu told the Daily Mail that her album will have a new vibe, which she has branded Nu:Vintage. The 21 year old also said she wanted her album to feature “things she could relate to, being in love and heartbreak. The same things that a young person will write about.”

Gamu also made sure to mention the influence of her roots in her music by saying that “If you are African, music is embedded in you. If you are doing dishes you are singing.”

The album will be released in April 2011 under independent Sottish record label. GSound Records. Check the “Shake the Room” video out below.
