A NEW Afrobeats musical is set to feature in London’s West End next week.

Inspired by the hit tune Oliver Twist from Nigerian artist D’Banj, Oliva Tweest will feature cameo appearances from popular comics Eddie Kadi and A Dot Comedian.

Taking place at the Lyric Theatre on April 15, Oliva Tweest is set in present day London and is about a promiscuous young man named Tobi, whose past comes back to haunt him when he meets a girl that will change his life forever.

The production will showcase the talents of rising performers, including Solomon Akano, Versha Grant and Dorcas Fapson.

Billed as the first Afrobeats musical to feature in the West End, the production aims to celebrate the famed music genre, which has enjoyed commercial success in the UK in recent years.

Featuring cover renditions of Afrobeats hits by artists including Wizkid and D’Banj, Oliva Tweest is presented by The Marimba Project; a combination of events management and creative arts, which seeks to celebrate the progression of Africa, in particular African music.

Oliva Tweest is at the Lyric Theatre, Shaftesbury Avenue, London W1 on April 15. For tickets, visit or call 0844 482 9674
