Nigerian rapper, Ice Prince beat 5 other acts to win the prestigious BET Best International Act: Africa award. The list of contenders included Toya Delazy (South Africa), 2Face Idibia (Nigeria), R2Bees (Ghana), Donald (South Africa), Radio and Weasel (Uganda) and Ice Prince.

With this award, Ice Prince has added his name to the list of fellow Nigerian artists who won the same award in the past such as 2Face and D’Banj.

The award ceremony was held at the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles on 30 June 2013 and it was hosted by comedian Chris Tucker. On the list of award recipients were the likes of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Chris Brown and Emeli Sandé. US rapper Kendrick Lemar picked up the highest number of awards, including best hip-hop artist and best collaboration alongside fellow rappers 2-Chainz, Drake and A$AP Rocky. Drake also picked up 3 awards.

Veteran R&B singer/songwriter/producer Charlie Wilson was presented with a lifetime achievement award. Charlie Wilson thrilled the crowd with a wonderful before he was joined by Pharrell Williams, Snoop Dogg for a rendition of Beautiful. A bit later on Charlie was joined by a soulful Justin Timberlake who alongside Pharrell and Snoop performed Signs among other tracks.
