Atumpan Signs Deal With Ministry Of Sound and Remixes The Thing

Ghana hitmaker Atumpan is one those who, as they say, is trying to internationalise Afrobeats. His 2011 hit song, The Thing recently got remixed by famous American house and garage producer Todd Edwards in order to give international appeal. The house music based remix was released a few days ago on Atumpan’s Soundcloud account and the views are already in their thousands. It is definitely mainstream and general club and radio material. Edwards, who is based in Los Angeles recently did a collaboration with Daft Punk on their 2013 album Random Access Memories.

The remix is just one of a number of Atumpan’s recent achievements. He recently performed at a club in London, alongside a live band and an Obroni dancer and gave a really good and spirited display. At the same event, it is said that, DJ Abrantee announced that Atumpan had signed a record deal with London based Ministry of Sound’s. Atumpan confirmed this with Factory 78’s Adesope. He said “It’s a good thing not just for me, but for Afrobeats as a movement. I’m happy because it’s about time the world get’s to know what Africans can do.”  That probably explains the big steps such as the collaboration with a giant such as Todd Edwards. See the performance below.

With the deal, Atumpan’s song is going to be officially released on a carnival weekend for the masses to catch on with it. Congrats to Atumpan!
