Last Chance: Jeanette Akua
21 year old South African-British singer Jeanette Akua and her group Miss Dynamix fell out of the UK’s X-Factor contest following a sing off against teenage sensation Hannah Barrett. Jeanette joined the show as a solo act and thrilled judges not only with her audition but with her clicky South African tongue. She was later drafted into group Missed Dynamix, a trio comprising of members Rielle Carrington and SeSe, at the group stage by judge Gary Barlow. The group fell into problems when Sese couldn’t turn up a week before last due to pregnancy illness. She however turned up last weekend and worked with the group on Saturday’s live show. The group failed to please fans on the night and were forced to a sing off on Sunday night. They lost to Hannah after they sung a rendition of Don’t You Worry Child by Swedish House Mafia. In the end, the judges voted for Hannah instead who performed Read All About It by Emeli Sande.
Before Saturday’s performance, a curious Sharon Osbourne asked Jeanette to make some clicky South African sounds and she indeed obliged.
