The controversial duo, over the weekend entered a barbering salon in Nima, a suburb of Accra, and had their iconic dreadlocks shaved.

The duo have been synonymous with dreadlocks for some years now.

Speaking in an interview on Airtel Entertainment News on Drive Time on Joy FM Monday, M3nsa said they were motivated to shave their dreads due to the bad name some personalities had given people with Rastas.

“There are some people, who also have dreadlocks and [are] in the limelight, who are giving people [with] dreadlocks a bad reputation so instead of us cutting their hair, we thought we won’t infringe other people’s right. We will [rather] cut our hair,” he said.

According to him, he was walking in Nima with Wanlov and in their bid to get a urinal, they opted to get a haircut so they could “use the [salon’s] facility to urinate.”

“I sat down [in] the barbering shop, he [barber] turned on the machine,” M3nsa narrated as his hair was completely off.

Although he shaved every piece of dread on his head, his partner in crime, Wanlov, shaved off a greater chunk of his hair – leaving only four locks.

Asked if the measure was temporary, M3nsa explained, “I will never grow my hair again, I don’t think I will [grow] them in the near future,” because life, including bathing “is easier now.”

‘Cos ov Moni 2’
The duo are set to release the second installment of their hit movie, ‘Cos ov Moni’ on December 23 at the National Theatre in Accra. The first installment of the movie was released in 2010.

“On the 23rd of December ‘Cos ov Moni 2’ [will be] officially out,” M3nsa disclosed.

Already the movie, ‘Cos ov Moni 2’, has been shown at Film Africa, an annual celebration of African cinema in London. It showcases the largest collection of African cinema.
