Good Run: Chiwetel in 12 Years A Slave

The presitigious Golden Globe Awards were held on Sunday night and among the biggest winners was the movie “12 Years A Slave”. The movie stars Nigerian Chiwetel Ejiofor as the main character it the true life story in the US slave-era based movie. The movie, released in late 2013 picked up the ‘Best Motion Picture’ award, beating other giants such as Gravity and Rush.  The Steve McQueen produced movie went in to the competition with seven nominations, including Best Actor in a motion picture (drama) for Chiwetel, who is affectionately known as Chiwey by fans. Chiwetel was born in London, to Nigerian parents.

Also in the mix was “Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom” which, although with several nominations, the 2014 only won in the “Best Original Song – Motion Picture” category, with U2’s Original Love song. Other winners were American Hustle, with 3 nods.
