‘I never wanted bankers to wear my designs’, admitted South African model and entrepreneur Sibu Dladla, who recently opened the doors to his first UK shop. ‘Our imagined clientele was more artistic; creative or media types – not corporate “suits”.’

But, with prices ranging from £200 to £450 for a jacket, it was not long before Sibu was forced eat his words. Ironically, one of the first clients at the shop in Notting Hill, London, happened to be a banker by day – albeit a psychedelic musician by night.

‘My designs are quite different to many other menswear designs. But I have realised my preconceptions of a typical client were wrong.
