MTV Base has revealed its nominees for best video at the MTV Africa Music Awards (Mamas) in KwaZulu-Natal.

Competing in this prestigious award category, which celebrates the artistry and creativity of well-made music videos, are Amr Singh for Heaven, by Da L.E.S, Kyle Lewis for Sleepwalker, by The Parlotones (featuring Khuli Chana), Terence Neale for Ragga Bomb, by Skrillex (featuring Ragga Twins).

Nigerian director Clarence Peters is nominated twice, for SOS by Yung L and Burna Boy’s Run My Race.

Plans for the 2014 Mamas are hotting up as the channel also revealed that tickets for the annual awards ceremony are now on sale at Computicket outlets countrywide.

Celebrating musicians and achievers who have made the most impact on African youth culture throughout the year, this year’s Mamas will feature dazzling performances from African and international artists, including the awards’ signature collaborations between artists of different genres and cultures – a highlight of every show.

Nominees this year include 2Face, AKA, Amani, Big Nuz, Burna Boy, Danny K, Davido, DJ Kent, Gangs of Ballet, LCNVL, Mafikizolo, Matthew Mole, Mi Casa, Michael Lowman, Nakhane Toure, P Square, Professor, Uhuru, Wizkid and Zakes Bantwini.

Taking place in South Africa for the first time at the Durban ICC on June7, the Mamas will premiere live across the continent at 9pm on MTV Base (DStv 322) and MTV (DStv 130).

The ceremony will be subsequently broadcast around the world to 500 billion music fans worldwide on MTV and affiliate channels. Tickets for the live show range from R200 to R450. Visit for more info.
