The following African artists were nominated for African Act in this year’s MOBO awards, while Fuse ODG got nominated in 2 other categories, which are Best Male alongside acts such as rappers Ghetts and Tinie Tempah and Best Song alongside the likes of Krept & Konana with “Don’t Waste My Time” and Sam Smith with “Stay With Me”. All acts will have the opportunity to share such an honour of winning a prestigious award in which the likes of Rita Ora, Jessie J,Beyonce, Drake, J. Cole,Kendrick Lamar, Pharrell, Nicki Minaj and many other big names are nominated.


Oulshola Ajose, better known as Afrikan Boy, is a grime MC from London. With Nigerian roots, he fuses both cultures together and has become a firm favourite among industry heavyweights.


Davido is a Nigerian American recording artist, performer and songwriter who experienced his major breakthrough in music with his hit debut single “Back When” featuring Naeto C.


DJ Clock is a South African DJ/producer from a township in Vosloorus on the East Rand, South Africa. He also runs his own independent record label, AM-PM Productions.


SID also known as Sidney Esiri first got his hands on the mic in 2002 when he was made a member of Da Trybe. Since, SID has become an influential musician and MC.


Winner of last year’s MOBO Award for Best African Act, Fuse ODG is UK based musician of Ghanaian descent. His recent single ft. Sean Paul ‘Dangerous Love’ reached No. 2 in the top40 charts.


The South African group, Mafikizolo, has had an incredible year, winning ‘Best Group’ and ‘Song of the Year’ at the MTV Africa Music Awards.


Mista Silva is a British Ghanaian musician from London whose success has led him to beat the first unsigned UK Afrobeats artist to have his music playlisted by BBC 1xtra.


Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian Singer-songwriter, recording artist, and performer. She is currently signed to Sony/ATV Music Publishing and Mavin Records.


Wizkid is a Nigerian recording artist, songwriter, and performer. Wizkid rose to prominence with his hit song, “Don’t Dull”.


Yemi Alade is an award-winning Nigerian Afro pop/R&B artist, song-writer, composer, actress and entertainer. She is currently signed to Effyzzie Music Group.
