SOME OF Africa’s leading talent in performing arts, literature, business and sport are lined up for an annual show in central London this weekend.

The continent’s high-fliers will be attending the 2014 TEDx Euston on Saturday (Dec 6) at the Mermaid Conference Centre, in Blackfriars, where the speakers include: South African classical music performer Pumeza Matshikiza; Nigerian former footballer and coach Sunday Oliseh, award-winning writer and intellectual, Binyavanga Wainaina from Kenya, Rwanda’s Health Minister Dr Agnes Binagwaho and one of Africa’s most successful businessmen, Ghanaian Tutu Agyare.

The event’s theme is “Facing Forward”, which organisers said is inspired by the words of Ghana’s first president Kwame Nkrumah, who said: “We face neither east nor west, we face forward”.

Organisers added: “Speakers and performers will consider how Africans standing together and facing forward can achieve even greater prominence and success for the continent.”

Doors open at 9am, and event begins at 10am at Mermaid Conference Centre, Blackfriars, London
