Africa Oye is the UK’s biggest African music festival, and the 2015 festival is set to bring some big name stars to Liverpool.

Headlining the main stage at Sefton Park this year will be none other than soul legend Omar.

With nearly 25 years in the music industry under his belt, and collaborations with music heavyweights such as Stevie Wonder, Omar is set to get the Sefton Park crowds dancing when Africa Oye kicks off next month.

Also on the bill this year are Jamaican dancehall reggae artist Frankie Paul, Malian stars BKO Quintet, Senegal’s Diabel Cissokho and Reunion Island’s Lindigo, to name but a select few.

Aside from the musical action on the main stage, Africa Oye visitors can also enjoy an array of food stalls, traders, workshops and kids entertainment in the Oye Village.

Now in its 23rd year, Africa Oye is one of the highlights of the summer in Liverpool, and attracted record crowds of around 80,000 people in 2014.

Africa Oye’s artistic director Paul Duhaney said: “Last year was a really special Oyé, there’s no doubt about that. I’m really looking forward to revealing the rest of our line-up for 2015 and proving that we can follow it with another spectacular festival.”

Africa Oye will be held at Sefton Park on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 June. The festival will run from 12:30pm to 9:30pm each day. Admission is free.
