Missy Elliott Borrows The Shoki Dance Move For Her Return Single “WTF (Where They From)”

Missy Elliott WTF
A lot of today’s cool kids club members may not know who Missy Elliot is, but they really need to. She is one of the, if not THE woman who used to rule the rap scene of yesteryear. The 44 year old who rocked the late nineties and early noughties with hits such as “Beep Me 911” featuring 702 and Magoo, “All n My Grill” featuring Big Boi and Nicole Wray, “Get Your Freak On” and many more  has decided to come back in 2015 (after 7 years of absence) with the single “WTF (Where They From)”. What has caught our attention is not only the musicality of the song but also one of the dance moves featured in its video, and it is none other than the addictive “Shoki” dance. Originally premiered in Nigeria in a video by Lil Kesh, the move has been adopted in several music videos across Africa and in many variations. For the “WTF” video Missy Elliott chose to Americanise the Shoki. It came out really well and we hope that Missy will not hesitate to give the continent that gave birth to the move the credit that it deserves. To see Missy Elliott do the Shoki, watch the video below;
